I show sober women how to build the confidence they need to pursue their desires beyond recovery.
So in the past few weeks, we have been talking about meditation. We have covered active meditation for those of you who can’t sit still and quiet your mind enough for traditional seated meditation. We covered different types of active meditation such as walking meditation and morning pages. If you haven’t had a chance to read these past few blogs click here and here to get caught up.
Today, I’m going to step out into this meditation realm a little bit more. There are some people out there who just need a little guidance in meditation so to speak. A little push or instruction to get you to the point you want to be at, right?
There are several meditation apps out there to choose from. They all have great options to choose from. But one of my favorites, and one that I use personally, is Simple Habit. It’s literally a meditation app for people who hate meditation.
Unlike other meditation apps out there, Simple Habit offers short, 5-minute meditations customized for specific situations. Some of those situations are preparing for a difficult conversation, struggling with a relationship, dealing with holiday stress, and even waiting at the airport.
This meditation app was created by Yunha Kim. She created the app after suffering an extreme case of entrepreneurial burnout while working on her first company, Locket. Simple Habit is a library of meditations led by some of the world’s leading teachers. And the best part is some of these are as short as 5 minutes for those of you who struggle to find time.
Imagine this! You download the Simple Habit app, lay down in bed, put in some earbuds, and listen to a short 5 minute guided meditation. What better time to meditate and relax than when it’s time to rest your head?
Maybe you need help dealing with some of the stress of your day before you can fall asleep. This is a common problem. The stress of the day comes at you like a movie replay as soon as your head hits the pillow! If you are someone that suffers with this and your sleep suffers because of it, then it’s time to deal with it!
Why don’t you try using a meditation app when you lay down at night? Confronting the stressors of your day and dealing with them might just lead to a better night’s sleep! It’s recommended that all adults get 7-9 hours of sleep a night. But I’m willing to bet that not everyone does. Sometimes it’s even hard for me!!! I have actually been doing a series on sleep in my Facebook Group so be sure to go check it out!
As mentioned before, this app is literally made for people who hate meditation. It also has situation specific meditations. Are you preparing to have a difficult conversation with your coworker? There’s a meditation for that. Are you getting angry because you are stuck sitting in an airport? There’s a meditation for that. Do the holidays have you stressed to the max? There’s a meditation for that. On a side note, holiday stress is something I’m going to be talking about in a later blog. So make sure you tune in for that!
The point I’m making is that sometimes the first step towards self enlightenment and a more relaxed you is to start dealing with these types of emotions and anxiety as the situation arises. A meditation app like Simple Habit is a great first step towards tackling your situational anxiety. Another great step is downloading my 5 Steps To Take Control Of Your Anxiety In The Moment free training.
I know meditation can be hard for you. And I know that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I also know that sometimes people really want to try meditating, but it’s just not working. They just can’t get their mind to turn off! But know that you don’t have to do traditional seated meditation. There are other options out there! You can try active meditation. Or you can try using a meditation app like Simple Habit.
Let’s work on getting you into a meditative state together! As always, if you have any questions, you can reach out to me!
